It’s human nature to make mistakes. Even
if we don’t like to admit it, we’ve
all made mistakes. But, learning from our mistakes
and working to not repeat them is how we grow.
Organizations are nothing more than a make-up
of people, and we have to work to minimize the
mistakes of those people so the organization
can “grow”.
Poka-Yoke is a process of fully understanding how and why a mistake can be made and then devising solutions to prevent that mistake from ever happening again. These solutions are often low cost simply solutions such as jigs, fixtures, size variations, etc. that can be implemented quickly. Such solutions make it to where a person can’t physically do it incorrectly.
