The Power and Magic of Lean 5-6 April 2011 |
Productivity Solutions has invited Norman Bodek to New Zealand to deliver a 2-day workshop on "The Power and Magic of Lean" on 5th and 6th of April 2011 at Sorrento in the park in Auckland.
Norman Bodek, an internationally recognised Lean ‘guru’, and member of Industry Week Manufacturing Hall of Fame for 2010, is delivering a 2 day workshop on
“The Power and Magic of Lean”
Workshop 5 - 6 April 2011
Sorrento in the Park, Auckland New Zealand
Productivity Solutions Ltd is providing this great opportunity for New Zealand business people to learn from an internationally recognised Lean ‘guru’ and master who has been credited with introducing TPS (Lean) to the US manufacturers 30 years ago. Bodek has published over 100 books on Lean and is the co-founder of the Shingo Prize for Operational excellence. He has visited Japan more than 70 times, visiting again in March 2011 to meet Takashi Harada and write a book on the Harada method which has been taught to more than 40,000 people in Japan. The Harada Method forms part of this 2-day workshop and is a very exciting topic.
While Lean has traditionally focused on improving the process, the product and the elimination of waste, to compete in the global marketplace people need to grow to their maximum creative potential. NZ businesses can’t compete with low cost labour markets; however they can compete when their people are developing high skills and becoming artisans in their own chosen career. Harada has developed a method that follows a new key that to succeed businesses need self-directed autonomous people working both on their own personal success and the success of the organization they are part of.
Also, Mr. Bodek has done extensive research on Toyota’s current problem that caused them to recall 11,000,000 automobiles. Toyota was the quality leader in the world with the Toyota Production System, or what we call ‘Lean’. It formed the driving force for Toyota’s success however Toyota did not extend it outside of their factory floors. Mr. Bodek will review Toyota’s problem and give new insight to companies on how to prevent them having similar problems and what to do in the future. Mr. Bodek calls this Zenjidoka and it will be part of the 2-day workshop.
By attending the 2-day workshop on “The Power and Magic of Lean” you will...
√ Discover the best management practices from Japan
√ Learn how to see opportunities for improvement
√ Develop a checklist, a step-by-step approach to converting to a Lean organization, understand the Lean tools and techniques and how they apply - look more closely at the time line, from customer order to delivery, and take out the non-value adding wastes
√ Study corporate visions, values, missions and philosophies of leading Japanese companies
√ Look at the differences between leading and managing at Japanese and Western companies
√ Look at Total Employee Involvement and giving your employees the opportunity to be self-directed autonomous people to be motivated and inspired at work
√ Study how Japan improved quality and learn the quality tools
√Learn about Zenjidoka - a new concept on how we can learn from Toyota’s mistakes and avoid them in the future
